Speed Trap Challenge Brings an Extra Race to the National Hill Climb

How fast can you go when the road is still pointing uphill?

There will be an extra challenge waiting for riders at this year’s National Hill Climb Championships on the Porlock Toll Road, with Exposure Lights sponsoring a special Speed Trap competition during the event.

Positioned approximately halfway up the course, the Speed Trap will measure riders’ speed over a 10-metre section of the climb, adding another competitive element to the battle for the national titles.

And there’s more than bragging rights at stake. Exposure Lights is putting up £250 for the fastest woman and £250 for the fastest man through the Speed Trap.

Every rider gets one shot, with their speed recorded as they pass through the timed section on their championship run. To be eligible for the prize, riders must also complete the full National Hill Climb course within 30 minutes.

It should make for another great spectacle for those watching from the roadside, as riders decide just how much they are prepared to give halfway up the climb – while knowing there is still plenty of Porlock Toll Road ahead of them.
